What You Will Need To File Your Disability Application

Before you apply for disability, be sure you have the last 15 years of your work history. The Disability process looks back at the last 15 years of a claimant’s job history. They will classify this work as Sedentary, Light, Medium, or Heavy. In order to be found disabled, the Administration must find you can’t do any of your previous AND you cannot perform any other work that exists in the national economy.

Claimants will also need to have their medical history available. Have a list of all doctors, hospitals, and clinics that you have visited in the last 5 years. This will provide the administration and your disability attorney the information necessary to gather your medical records that will later be used to support your claim for disability.
